So, as you may have heard by now, Nintendo has made the decision to drop the price of it’s Nintendo 3DS handheld from $250 to $170. A risky move on Nintendo’s part, as it’s been conformed that Nintendo will now take a $30 loss on each handheld sold. But, what does this mean for the consumer? Well, in gaming, when a console is selling well, Publishers and Developers flock to it, knowing that their games will sell the best on said console. So, if the price drop means that more people will buy the 3DS, that then means that 3rd party publishers and developers will begin to develop more games for the console. So, more people will get a 3DS, and we will also get more games. Also, Nintendo is doing something they call the “Ambassador Program” for people who bought the 3DS before the price drop. Nintendo is giving early 3DS adopters 10 free NES games and 10 free GBA games. I have heard an excessive amount of complaining about this over the Internet. People are saying “Why are they giving us OLD games?!?” and “I don’t want this! This sucks!”. Ok, let me make this very clear. Nintendo didn’t OWE us anything! Price drops happen ALL the time, and Nintendo was kind enough to give us some free games. So, there are my thoughts on this whole deal. Hope you enjoyed my ranting!
